SmartDoc Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Welcome to SmartDoc ("Application"), developed and operated by ShamilDev ("we", "us", or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how our mobile application collects, uses, and safeguards information when you install and use SmartDoc on Android devices, and outlines your rights and choices under applicable privacy regulations (such as the GDPR and CCPA).

2. Information We Collect and How We Use It

A. On-Device Document Storage & Processing

When you scan, import, crop, or organize documents, identity cards, contracts, or receipts in SmartDoc:

• Local Storage: Scanned pages, cropped images, generated PDF files, and custom notes are stored directly within your device's isolated internal storage sandbox.
• On-Device OCR Text Extraction: Optical Character Recognition is powered by Google ML Kit Vision running 100% locally on your smartphone processor. Document photos and text strings are never transmitted to cloud servers for text analysis.

B. Account & Authentication Information

If you choose to sign in with your Google Account:

• We utilize Google Sign-In via Android Credential Manager and Firebase Authentication to securely verify your identity.
• We receive your public profile identifier (Email address, Display Name, and unique Firebase UID).
• This information is used strictly to authenticate your account, maintain your Pro subscription status, and sync your document records if you activate Cloud Sync.
• Guest Mode: You may also use SmartDoc completely anonymously in "Guest Mode" without providing any login credentials.

C. Cloud Backup & Synchronization

SmartDoc provides two optional backup options:

• Cloud Firestore: If you perform a cloud backup, your document catalog metadata (title, category, tags, notes, expiration dates) and extracted OCR text are synced to your private subcollection (users/{uid}/documents) hosted on Google Cloud Firestore.
• Personal Google Drive: If you select Google Drive backup, SmartDoc packages your document files and manifest into a secure ZIP archive (SmartDoc_Backup.zip) and launches Android's native system file picker. The file is saved directly into your personal Google Drive storage. We do not have access to any other files in your Google Drive.

D. Device Permissions

• Camera (android.permission.CAMERA): Used only when you initiate the document scanner to capture physical documents. Camera access is never triggered in the background.
• Notifications (android.permission.POST_NOTIFICATIONS): Used optionally on Android 13+ to provide local calendar reminders before your stored documents (e.g. passport, driver's license, car insurance) reach their expiration date.
• Internet (android.permission.INTERNET): Used solely for Google Authentication, Cloud Firestore sync, verifying subscription licenses, and loading ads for free-tier users.

3. Advertising and Monetization

SmartDoc integrates Google AdMob and Firebase Remote Config to provide free access for non-subscribers:

• AdMob may collect anonymized advertising IDs and diagnostic telemetry to serve compliant banner, native, and interstitial advertisements in accordance with Google Play Developer policies.
• Ad-Free for Pro Purchasers: Users who activate SmartDoc Pro (via Google Play Billing or SofizPay) have all advertisements disabled completely across the entire app.

4. Payments and In-App Subscriptions

SmartDoc offers premium upgrades through two secure payment options:

• Google Play Billing: Global annual subscriptions ($6.99 USD/year) are handled entirely by Google Play. We do not collect, view, or store payment card or banking information.
• SofizPay Payment Gateway: In Algeria, subscriptions (2,000 DZD/year) can be paid with EDAHABIA or CIB cards directly on SofizPay's certified checkout portal. SmartDoc does not process or retain any debit card details or PINs.

5. Third-Party Service Providers

We work with trusted services that process data strictly in accordance with their privacy policies:

• Google Firebase & Play Services: Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Remote Config, and Analytics. (Google Privacy Policy)
• Google AdMob: Advertising delivery. (Google Advertising Privacy)
• Google ML Kit: On-device optical character recognition. (Google ML Kit Terms)
• SofizPay: Payment processing gateway for Algeria. (SofizPay Website)

6. Data Security and Privacy Protection

We implement industry-standard safeguards to secure your private data:

• All network communications between the app and cloud services are encrypted using TLS/HTTPS.
• App Lock (PIN Protection): SmartDoc includes a built-in 4-digit PIN security feature allowing you to lock access to your wallet and sensitive documents on your device.

7. User Control, Rights, and Data Deletion

You maintain full control over your documents and personal records:

• Local Data Deletion: You can delete any individual document, page, or category directly inside the app. Uninstalling the app permanently purges all local documents.
• Cloud Data Deletion: To delete your Firebase user record and all Cloud Firestore document data, send an email to aziznetstudio@gmail.com with the subject "SmartDoc Account Deletion Request". Your cloud profile and synced documents will be permanently purged within 30 days.

8. Children's Privacy

SmartDoc is a general audience productivity application and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated Effective Date.
